If you have actually ever questioned what it ‘d be like to get stuck on a cliff face while rock climbing, or what it ‘d resemble to hang from a helicopter over the ocean while conserving another person who got stuck on a cliff face while rock climbing, we have a YouTube video for you.
On Tuesday, a couple of climbers required aid while scaling Capo Noli, a seaside cliff in Liguria, Italy. While we don’t understand exactly why they needed aid, we do know exactly how crews saved them, thanks to body video camera footage.
In a video published to YouTube by ABC 7 Chicago, you can enjoy as a crew from Italy’s national fire and rescue service flies in to assist the two people stranded mid-Capo Noli as the waves lash against the rocks below.
As the crewman with the body cam exits the helicopter in a harness, you can see his legs hanging and the ocean crashing beneath him. As he approaches the cliff face, he speaks with the climbers in Italian, then assists a second team member grab onto the cliff and clip the very first climber to him. Then, the body-cam guy clips the 2nd climber to his harness and presses off from the cliff.
You can then view them hang precariously for a couple of seconds while the helicopter draws in the line.
