It wasn’t a pet dog as the partner initially suggested; it was a “freakin’ kangaroo”… in Texas. The interaction had the dispatcher laughing aloud.

“Ma’am, I don’t understand who I need to call,” the guy says after the dispatcher answers the call,” [however] there’s a kangaroo that show up the road [sic] and crossed right here.”

After a long time out, the dispatcher asks: “Ok, does it appear like it might belong there?”

“No,” the man exclaims. “My partner’s like, ‘Why is that pet standing in the middle of the road?’ […] And I look, and I’m like, ‘That’s a freakin’ kangaroo, and it starts hopping, coming down the roadway.'”

Quickly, the man and dispatcher are both laughing at the absurdity.

Making the situation even stranger, a note at the end of the Lufkin Police Department’s Facebook post recommends the kangaroo, called “Kangaroo Jack,” actually lives in the area. The homeowner accidentally left eviction open and the animal left. The department infers that this particular animal was the star of the 2003 comedy Kangaroo Jack.
