Yakima River Canyon
The gentle Yakima River winds for 27 miles through huge basalt cliffs and rolling desert hills between Ellensburg and Yakima, Washington. This location is popular for wildlife watching, fishing, and drifting the river.
All 4 BLM-managed recreation websites use picnic tables, fire rings, close-by dumpsters and vault toilets. Connections and potable water are not provided. Big Pines camping area is where the majority of the campsites are located, and contains two group campsites. Umtanum, Lmuma Creek, and Roza likewise provide camping areas. Umtanum and Roza receive high day-use visitation during the summer season. Roza provides a concrete boat launch. Motorboats are forbidden upstream from Roza.

Campsites will only be held up until checkout time (11am) the next day. If reservation holder does not appear already, the website is launched.

There are no hookup services and no drinkable water. Mobile phone coverage is restricted.

Understand rattlesnakes, bees and poison ivy.
- River Safety: Motorized boats are only permitted between the Roza Ramp and the Roza Dam. (1/2 mile)
- All visitors are needed to pay and show on their car( s) valid licenses for over night ($ 15.00 per night) or day usage ($ 5.00 daily). Washington State Discover Passes are NOT legitimate on BLM-managed lands.The reservation
- system is only offered from May 1 -Sept 30 of each year. After booking season has actually ended, all camping and day usage will need to use the self-serve fee payment station at each website. Maximum length of stay is 7 days.
- Fires are only allowed in BLM-approved
- metal fire rings. Fishing is catch and release only.

- Yakima River Canyon does consist of private land, be aware of where you
- are. Camping sites are limited to 10 individuals and 2 vehicles per site.

Canines must be on a leash. Additional vehicle overnight fee: Camping site costs include parking for 2 vehicles at each campground.
- There is a$ 10 per vehicle, per night cost to park an extra lorry. Extra lorries must be signed up utilizing the yellow day use envelopes readily available at the charge station at each entertainment site, and need to be parked at the designated camping site( if room on the parking pad), or in designated additional vehicle parking spaces in the parking area. Umtanum, Lmuma Creek, Big Pines, and Roza. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the massive basalt cliffs, rolling desert hills, riparian greenery, and the cool water of the Yakima River. Close-by Destinations The cities of Ellensburg and Yakima, Central Washington University, and Cowiche Canyon routes are near by. Umtanum leisure website uses a footbridge to
cross the Yakima River and access to Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife Lands on the west side of the river. Recreation The Yakima River Canyon is a popular location for plant and wildlife watching, consisting of bighorn sheep, various birds of victim, and mule deer. This area of the river is classified as a Blue
Ribbon trout stream, but is catch and release only. One of the most popular summer activities is drifting the river, which is a household friendly Class 1 river without any rapids. Rafters typically put in at Umtanum and secure at Roza.
