The White Line trail in Sedona, Arizona is a headache for the majority of us. For the select couple of (i.e., mountain bikers), it’s an attempt. The trail itself is quite simple; it’s that death drop and barrette turn at the end that scare even most mountain cyclists away.
The White Line is actually a horizontal white line– a layer of light-colored rock amid the red sandstone– up on the side of a steep cliff face. Riders set about a quarter-mile along the white line before doing the most unsafe maneuver of the trek: a steep drop and instant turn that’ll put you on a lower course back to the start.
Ensure your brakes are working before you attempt that turn … yikes.
Mountain cyclist and YouTuber Heather Munive just recently published a video she and some good friends shot throughout the Sedona Mountain Bicycle Celebration, which occurred previously this month. In the video, the pals ride some trails, including the infamous White Line.
Start watching at 9 minutes 13 seconds for the portion of the video detailing this extreme trail. (Just viewing them scope it out on foot made me feel woozy.)
Though 2 of the three buddies decided to save this challenge for another day, one securely finished the path.
Here’s another appearance at the White Line from Crucial MTB:
What do you believe? Death dream or a fun time? It’s a nope for me.
