According to a study published on Tuesday by the Austrian Herpetological Society, the scientists observed 2 coral snakes taking part in a tug-of-war over a limbless amphibian in a jungle in western Colombia.
While the video released along with the post runs less than a minute long, researchers say they watched the fight for 17 minutes. They stated the winner simply carried on and the loser did not follow.
In the study, the researchers say that such behaviors are more typical in captivity, however they’re seldom observed in nature, potentially due to the evasive nature of the reptiles.
