Man Unintentionally Ends up in the Middle of a Grizzly-Moose Chase

Wes Larson, a bear biologist and host of the Tooth and Claw podcast, was taking a look at the website of a deadly mauling he covered on his program, when he wound up in the middle of a grizzly-moose chase. He quips on Twitter: “I saw a moose in the camping area and went to take a brief video of it … it wound up being a better video than I expected.”

In an Instagram post sharing the video, Larson states he was visiting the Soda Butte Camping Area in Montana where a grizzly bear eliminated Kevin Kammer back in 2010. He had actually covered this story on his podcast and wished to do a drive through, since he neighbored.

“The campground was deserted and the gate was opened so I drove in,” he composed. “On the other side of the campground I saw the dark shape of a moose in the trees, so I moved better to record it with my electronic camera. Turns out I wasn’t the only one watching the moose …”

In the video, Larson initially focuses on a moose that emerges from the trees near his car. The moose drops in front of the automobile and glances behind it, before running around the cars and truck. A grizzly bear then appears from the trees, follows the moose’s course around Larson’s cars and truck, and chases after the moose off into the distance.
