People in Spain and Portugal witnessed a definitely legendary few moments on Sunday when a meteor flew overhead, firing up the night sky. Footage of the cosmic event struck social networks first. In one video published to X, a woman was dancing at an outside performance when unexpectedly, the sky turned bright blue and a ball of light with a tail skyrocketed over her head and into the distance.
The European Space Company (ESA) published official video footage of the meteor from its fireball electronic camera in Cáceres, Spain, and it is quite magnificent to view. The sky begins dark gray, then a flash of light enters the field of vision. It appears like a blue-green ball of light with a long tale extending behind it.
As the meteor nears the horizon, it becomes much brighter, firing up the sky for a quick minute before passing beyond the fireball cam’s field of view. It leaves a bright-white streak of light in its wake as the remainder of the sky turns dark once again.
