Usually, when somebody spots a mountain lion on a home-security electronic camera, it’s an only lion. (And that’s newsworthy enough for the majority of homeowners.) However these Montecito, California homeowners had a whole household of mountain lions travelling through their backyard, and the Nest-cam video is likely the only evidence the felines were even there.
Montecito is a semi-rural neighborhood outside of Santa Barbara on the main coast of California. Known for being home to some exceptionally rich people (like Oprah), Montecito is sandwiched between the Los Padres National Forest and the Pacific Ocean. Therefore, the area is likewise home to wildlife, including mountain lions.
The Montecito Association shared the Nest-cam video footage of the mountain lion household on Instagram. Many commenters revealed awe and marvel. Some felt uneasy that the lions came so near home.
In the video, you can see what seems a mama mountain lion and 2 of her cubs as they peacefully pass through the backyard. Lagging a little behind, a 3rd cub then passes through to follow its family.
