Some animals get aggressive when they wind up in a place they’re not supposed to be. Not this one. A black bear in Colorado found its method to a renaissance fair and established camp beneath a honeycomb shop– probably for the complimentary smells. Officials say it appeared to have no intention of leaving.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) posted photos on X of the bear, which they called Smoky, beneath a structure. It wasn’t a large bear, almost 80 pounds, so it fit nicely in the area it selected.
DCSO says the “unwelcome guest” ventured onto the Larkspur Renaissance Festival’s home last Sunday. The sheriff’s office cleared the public from the area as they kept watch on the bear. When Colorado Parks and Wildlife showed up on the scene, wildlife officials could not coax it out from underneath the honeycomb store.
“The bear didn’t seem bothered by any of us,” the X post says. “He even found a ball to have fun with while he rested.”
Eventually, authorities got the black bear out of the renaissance fair, and they released it “in a better-suited location for him, away from human beings.” Luckily for everyone, there were no injuries. Unfortunately for Smoky, he didn’t get any honeycomb from the reasonable.
Well, we can securely state that what we see at the Larkspur Ren Fest never ever dissatisfies!
On Sunday, #DCSO deputies needed to deal with an uninvited visitor who, rather frankly, did not wish to leave. An 80-pound black bear, one they named Smoky, ventured onto the Ren Fest home and … pic.twitter.com/It4Fxda82F!.?.!— DC Constable(@dcsheriff)July 9
