More about the farm: Our peaceful country retreat, in the stunning rural borders of Higginsville, Missouri, has been in our household for four generations. Currently farming the land has been reduced simply to row crops, but there was a time when there was a group consisting of a mule, named Jamie and horse, named Dan that tilled the soil for the crops. There were milk cows and the generations before me utilized a separator for the cream and milk. They had pigs, chickens, and another horse named Clipper that my mother roadway to school. They had a number of veggie and fruit gardens and even planted peanuts. There are remnants of the old structures that once stood on the farm. The old chicken house structure is located near the present fire pit and a hand dug well is covered by an old tractor tire we use for our garden compost. The small shed in the back corner of the yard was once a pump home, a playhouse, then a chicken home and now a Junque home. There as soon as was a barn, a silo, a feed lot, an outhouse, and a hog shed. There were old tires, iron wheels, brick stacks, and a gas tank on stilts. There was a screened in deck, lovely hydrangeas and still a terrific front porch. There were lots and lots of big pecan and walnut trees. At one point there were over 60 terrific shade trees in the lawn. We have lost some, however still delight in many of the trees my grandpa planted. My mom, her siblings and moms and dads moved here in the early years of WWII. Throughout that amount of time her brother passed away flying over Germany fighting for us. Our kids lived all their elementary school and high school years in this Red Brick Farmhouse. Some winters were so terribly cold in this old house it was almost miserable. I like this old house and it is really been a labor of love. Again, Thank you, Kenton and Annette
