When fishing in a location like east Tennessee, anglers do not anticipate to hook an alligator. One did, however, previously this week. The angler and the alligator are great, but wildlife authorities were a bit stumped. After all, gators just do not reside in the area.
Local news reports stated that the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Company (TWRA) got a call on Monday evening from a young angler who was out on Norris Lake. He stated he ‘d captured a gator about 3-4 feet long.

Alligators have been spotted in Tennessee in recent history, but sightings are more typical in the southwest of the state that surrounds gators’ variety. Wildlife authorities state that the gator caught on Monday should have been launched by somebody into the lake unlawfully.
Gators can survive in Tennessee, but Cameron told local news that it’s not an ideal location for them, especially east Tennessee.
“They love swampy land and warm water,” he stated. “The winters here get extremely cold … and they don’t choose deep, clear water. I expect it might make it through here, but it would not be a fantastic habitat for an alligator to thrive in.”
The gator is being taken care of at a regional zoo up until wildlife officials can find a long-term home for it.
