Among the guys recorded the noise as it echoed through the surrounding wood. If you needed to guess, what do you believe a mountain lion sounds like?
“That’s a mountain lion,” the male filming states, as the other two field biologists concur. They all appear to come to the awareness at the very same time.
“It’s not far away,” among the men says, a bit reluctantly.
Montana Fish, Wildlife, & Parks shared the video in May, saying: “Mountain lions, Puma concolor, are among the most evasive carnivores throughout the Americas, however sometimes you may catch a peek or hear among their vocalizations echoing off the Montana mountainside.”
Montana Fish, Wildlife, & Parks says felines of all sizes can either roar or purr, depending upon the types. “African lions, Panthera leo, can produce an effective holler but our mountain lions do not have the anatomy to do so,” the company composes in its Instagram caption. “Cougar interaction consists of purrs, chirps, hisses, growls, and snarls that differ in pitch and volume. They have a range of communications varying from bird-like chirping sounds (when a mother is ‘talking’ to her kittens) to a more powerful scream-like sound referred to as the caterwaul.”
