Who understood bears enjoy to eat watermelon? In a video caught by the La Cañada Flintridge property owners, the big bear handles to open the doors to the fridge and freezer in the garage. It got a sweet, rejuvenating snack, and brought it away. The bear stopped briefly to consume the watermelon before heading back into the nearby wilderness.
In the video, observers screech as the bear saunters into the garage, right up to the refrigerator, and skillfully opens it. It searches around for a bit, then grabs the watermelon.
In an interview with ABC 7 News, homeowner Chris Yee said his kids recorded the video. “It really simply, with its mouth, simply took that quarter piece of watermelon out without troubling anything else, fortunately, and then proceeded to find a safe spot to enjoy it.”
This a black bear, regardless of having brown fur (wild brown bears no longer wander in California).
Bears are wise and sometimes even break into individuals’s homes to rob their fridges. One repeat offender, a three-legged bear in Florida named Tripod, just recently broke into a home, opened the fridge, then closed it and left after understanding there was no food inside.
