Vandals Destroyed Ancient Rock Formations at Lake Mead National Entertainment Area

Why? That’s the question numerous people are asking after seeing a viral video of 2 vandals destroying ancient rock formations at Lake Mead National Leisure Location outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. The National Forest Service (NPS) manages the website, which encompasses 1.5 million acres of mountains, canyons, valleys, and 2 lakes.

As of this writing, officials have not yet identified the two males in the video, but they’re actively looking for assistance from the public to do so. The guys seem intentionally pushing big pieces of rock from a development near the Redstone Dune Path. There’s a kid with them, who shrieks as the large rocks fall. (The screeches seem like fear, not glee.)

According to NPS, the sandstone developments have actually been forming for 140 million years, and these two dudes took it upon themselves to ruin one of them in the span of a couple of minutes.

“It’s quite dreadful. It’s type of disgusting,” John Haynes, a public details officer at the Lake Mead National Leisure Location, told local news station Fox 5 Las Vegas. “Why would you even do something like this? Like, why on Earth would you do this to this location that’s so gorgeous?”

Why undoubtedly. Watch it here, if you can stomach it:
