The video, tape-recorded from a helicopter, reveals the rescue group utilizing a thermal camera to find the man, recognized as Cody Cretini, and they found him holding on to a gravel cliff about 50 feet above roaring ocean waters.
Throughout the operation, a tactical flight officer was decreased down to Cretini and screamed, “Do not release, guy. Do not release!”, and then protected a rescue harness around him.
As they lift off the cliff, the officer screams, “I got you sibling” and within seconds, they return securely to the ground where some firefighters were waiting to help.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Cretini explained that after he fell, he had been keeping the rock face for about an hour before the rescue team got here.
” My muscles were tired, I was cramping, and I understood if I had actually fallen that it wasn’t going to be excellent,” he said, including that when the group showed up, he knew he just had to hold on a bit longer.
How the 22-year-old hiker entered into the circumstance was he chose to take a daring faster way and climb the cliff, but after getting about 40 or 50 feet off the path, he discovered himself in an area where the rocks began to collapse.
Quickly after realizing his scenario, Cretini’s girlfriend called for help. Although the Southern Marin Fire District was dispatched to the scene, they asked the Sonoma Sheriff’s Office to send its helicopter. In general, the rescue operation took 30 minutes.
