Allatoona Lake

McKaskey Creek Camping area is located on Allatoona Lake on the Etowah River, a tributary of the Coosa River. The peaceful lake and serene environments use a relaxing getaway type the nearby city of Atlanta, just 45 miles north. Visitors delight in different water sports, hiking, hunting and seeing wildlife.

The campground contains 51 sites, 32 of which have electrical and water connections. Flush toilets, showers, picnic tables, grills and lantern posts are provided. Other features include a dump station, boat ramp, play area and swimming beach.

    ** You will no longer use recreation. gov to book campsites at these camping areas. Current McKinney Camping area reservations will be honored up to March 13th.

Required to Know

  • Maximum of 3 lorries per camping site
  • Optimum of 8 individuals per campsite
  • Maximum of 3 pets are allowed per camping site
  • Digital Copies of campground maps are available online. Please print ahead of time if you would like physical copy.

  • Off-road cars, golf carts and ATVs are not permitted
  • Entryway gate is locked from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Camping limit is 14 successive days or 14 non-consecutive days in any 30-day period at all Corps of Engineers ran camping sites on the Allatoona Lake Task.

Natural Features

The rolling hills around Allatoona Lake are heavily forested with lush oak, maple, blackgum, dogwood, magnolia, hickory and the periodic pine tree. Ferns and honeysuckle bushes make up the understory.

The dense hardwood forests are home to raccoons, opossum, bobcats, red and gray fox, white tail deer, squirrels, and chipmunks. From time to time, visitors even spot black bears wandering the area.

The city of Cartersville is nearby, using the Tellus Science Museum, Etowah Indian Mounds, and Booth Western Art Museum. The Visitor Center at Allatoona Lake Task Management Workplace includes video displays and display screens about the area’s history, ranging from the time of early Native Americans, to the Civil War and to provide times. Modification and Cancellation Policies and Charges

Overnight and Day Usage Facilities: To guarantee fairness, booking arrival or departure dates might not be altered beyond the reserving window up until 18 days after booking the appointment.

Camping / Day Usage: A $10.00 service fee will use if you alter or cancel your reservation (including camping areas, cabins, lookouts, group facilities, and so on). The $10.00 service charge will be subtracted from the refund quantity.

Late Cancellations

Overnight and Day Usage Facilities: Late cancellations are those canceled between 12:01 a.m. (Eastern) on the day before arrival and have a look at time on the day after arrival.

Private Campgrounds: If a consumer cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival they will be charged a $10.00 service charge and will also surrender the opening night’s use charge (not to exceed the total spent for the initial appointment). Group Day Usage Area: If a customer cancels a group day use center appointment within 14 days of the set up arrival date, they will surrender the total day use fee without any service charge charge.

No-Shows

Camping / Day Usage: A camping no-show client is one who does not get to a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Booked campgrounds and group overnight facilities will be held up until check-out time on the day following your arranged arrival. Group day-use facilities will be held till check-in time on your arranged arrival date.

If a customer does not reach the camping site or group center by check-out time the day after arrival or does not cancel the appointment by the times listed under “Late Cancellations” above, the customer may be evaluated a $20.00 service charge and forfeit usage costs.

Refunds

Clients should ask for refunds no behind 2 week after the set up departure date. Leisure. gov will not approve refund requests after 14 days of departure.

Appointment Cost: For some centers, trips or permits an extra reservation cost is charged. For some over night and day-use centers, an additional non-refundable appointment cost might use. The non-refundable reservation charge for trips and tickets is $1.00. The non-refundable booking charge for licenses differs by area.

– Refunds for Bankcard Purchases: Refunds for bank card payments will be released as a credit to the original bank card.

– Refunds for Examine or Cash Purchases: Refunds for Recreation. gov payments made by check or money order, and money payments at chosen campgrounds will be released a check refund. A refund will be processed within 1 month of invoice and approval. Please Note: Refund demands made throughout or after departure can just be processed when authorized by the center management personnel based upon regional policy.
